A new position should be created for a Events Coordinator. This person will not plan events on his/her lonesome, but will instead have periodic planning meetings to delegate individual events to responsible members, and possibly Far.  He/she will establish a best-practices for holding events, ensure the quality of events being held, and make sure that anyone who wants to run an event has all the necessary knowledge and resources they need.  The Event Coordinator is NOT in charge of the email sign-in-sheet but he/she probably will end up doing it anyway.

APPROVED 3/3/10 - 14 members present (real, IRC, proxy) Votes: For:12
== Purpose==
To decide whether to have a Hackathon on Saturday and Sunday, the 27th and 28th of March, 2010.
==Text==
The Hackathon will consist of a number of classes on Saturday and Sunday, culminating in a Movie Night.

==Status==
To be voted on on 3/3/10
== Purpose==
To decide whether to pay a $100 speaker's fee to LeAnn Erickson, a documentary filmmaker who is finishing a film called Top Secret Rosies, about the women who programmed ENIAC.
==Text==
In June, the filmmaker is available to do a lecture and possibly screen a teaser from the film, which is currently in post-production and should be nearing its première at that time.  In lieu of an outright speaker's fee, she requests that donations be made toward the film through her fiscal sponsor, the Philadelphia Film Office.  Suggested donation for .edu and small orgs like Hive is about $100, and much higher for conferences or corporate engagements.  Proposal is that Hive plan to pay $100.  There is an expectation that the event may pay for itself either through a door donation or passing the hat.

== Purpose ==
We have a MakerBot 3D-PO. It eats plastic. We need to feed it. PLA is $80 from MakerBot. We have a loose agreement to buy more plastic but I thought I'd throw it up as a proposal because that's what an officer told me to do.
Let people part and sell the excess hardware that comes into the space to help pay membership dues

We need new plastic for MakerBot. PLA is ideal because the fumes are not carcinogenic (like ABS is). Let's get $80 of PLA now!!! Ask Jordan with any questions.
Valuable--but not immediately useful--hardware keeps making its way to the space, but no one has time to take it apart, take pictures, and sell it.  Mike in particular keeps finding all this valuable stuff in the dumpster at his work.  We should let people who have time sell this stuff on Ebay or wherever to help pay for their memberships. This will help 1) people who don't otherwise have the money to be members 2) the quartermasters and members who don't want junk piling up 3) the Hive budget cuz more money is better than less.

==Text==
As proposed, all cash paid to Hive76 must be immediately deposited into a locked drop-box, along with description amount and source, until it can be retrieved by a member of management to be taken to the bank. Cash amounts under $100 must be deposited within 5 business days, amounts between $100-300 must be deposited in 48 hours, and any values over $300 must be deposited the same day.
